Jessica De Jong

This is Jessica De Jong.... She is kind, beautiful, encouraging, and talented! I had the wonderful joy of photographing her, and we had a blast despite the freezing whether. This shoot was all about showing Jess's personalty. It was so refreshing to do such a fun personality filled shoot. Jess plays the Ukulele, loves Chi Tea, lipstick, birds (as you will see later), and she always has a smile on her face. I did my best to capture her pure joy in these photographs, and her beauty and personality made that easy! I hope you enjoy this little taste of the beautiful Jessica De Jong's portraits!

The de Jong Family Portraits

Earlier this summer, I had the privilege of photographing the de Jong family. Its a rare occasion to photograph such a kind and beautiful family. They had a blast being together, which made my job  easy! The shoot was full of laughing, teasing, and joking and I enjoyed every moment of it.

Unfortunately, when I was about 10 minutes away from the de Jong's beautiful home it started POURING down rain. My heart immediately sunk as I had plained on a completely outdoor session. But we decided to roll with the punches, and the de Jong's home was full of fun little spots that worked perfectly during this rainy day. About half way through the shoot the rain stopped, so we were able to capture the sunny and green images I'd imagined! Everything worked out wonderfully, I learned a lot about changing plans on a moments notice, and we ended up with a great variety of shots! Enjoy....

Thats it for the family photos... BUT Jess's Boyfriend Tim also happened to be at the shoot so I got to snap a few couples portraits of them. They are just an insanely beautiful couple, but more than that they are both kind, loving, and talented! I love the way these portraits turned out!

The Melancholy That Follows the Rain.

Shooting in the rain sounds like it would be fun.... but its a little more difficult than expected. Raegan was shivering by the time we finished, and my lens was fogged up and covered in smudges. I had a plastic bag tapped to the hood of my lens so it would stay on and protect my camera, and Raegan was amazing as I asked her to walk through the woods... barefoot... while it rained! Was this shoot difficult? Yes! But it was also a blast, and I am thrilled with some of the shots we got! I love having such a beautiful sister who will go on adventures with me!

So now, lets talk about the inspiration behind this shoot. RAIN! I absolutely love rain, and I love when the sky is just one big cloud. On the day of the shoot the sky was completely white and I just had to do a shoot with that gorgeous and erie sky as the backdrop! I wanted the images to have a very haunting and dark feel, inspired by the rich colors of the trees and the misty affects of rain and clouds. Rae and I found an outfit unlike anything we had ever seen, she teased her hair and we set off! Like I've said, I am really excited about these images and raegan did a wonderful job modeling for her crazy sister who wanted to shoot in the rain!

I hope you enjoy what you see!

My Hats Off To You.

Vintage clothes, an adorable hat, a wooded backyard, a quilt, and a camera were all I needed to find inspiration for these portraits. I interned at my church this past summer and two of the girls that I interned for came over to do a shoot with me!  Harmony was my beautiful model for the day, and Cassidy who is an aspiring photographer also came along to shoot and learn. I am not very eloquent at explaining things, but I tried my best to teach Cassidy through this shoot. I have to admit that it was nice to have someone else holding my reflector. I have become very accustomed to the duties of an assistant.  Cassidy got some beautiful shots and it was so fun working with these precious girls.

Anyways, I love the way these images turned out and I hope you enjoy what you see. There are certain things that I've been dying to try, and this shoot was a fun opportunity to just try new things out. As Cassidy and Harmony discovered, I get way too excited over the smallest things but I just love being behind the camera. I love every moment of a photo shoot, and these girls made this one especially fun! I hope you enjoy my work, because I had a blast working on every image here!
